NNCI Annual Conference at Stanford University, October 2023

What is the NNCI?

From 2015 to 2025, Stanford was a proud member of the National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure (NNCI), a nationwide network supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF). As NNCI@stanford (formerly known as nano@stanford), we served as one of 16 open-access sites offering advanced tools and expertise for nanoscale fabrication and characterization.

NNCI’s mission was to provide researchers — from academia, industry, and government — access to cutting-edge university facilities to support innovation in nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Our Role in the NNCI

At Stanford, NNCI encompassed four core shared facilities:

  • Stanford Nanofabrication Facility (SNF)
  • Stanford Nano Shared Facilities (SNSF)
  • Microchemical Analysis Facility (MAF)
  • Stanford Isotope Geochemistry & Measurement Facility (SIGMA)

These labs welcomed users from Stanford and beyond, supporting a vibrant and diverse research community. Our participation was made possible through NSF Award ECCS-2026822. Learn more about the NNCI here!
